Steve Aylett's Lint is perhaps the funniest book I've ever read (his The Inflatable Volunteer is also a strong contender). It is just wonderful, every sentence containing enough ideas to fill a novel. The fact that Jeff Lint believed one had to dress in drag in order to present a manuscript to one's agent or publishers. Or in 1973 when Lint was eating a lemon every day because "he could no longer imagine the experience" leading to his "Fantastic Lemon Experience", five days in which "Lint lived amid the cognita inferna of proliferating dimensions." My favourite is Lint's theory that the bullet that killed JFK was in fact the same bullet fired by John Wilkes Booth at Lincoln in 1865, which then ricocheted around the world for the next 98 years taking part in almost every major political assassination.
I recently interviewed Mr. Aylett for The Quietus about Lint The Movie, which features Alan Moore, Stewart Lee, Robin Ince, Josie Long, Mikey Georgeson and many more talking about the myth and madness of Jeff Lint.
